Around 100 people were taken hostage on a passenger train hijacked by armed militants in a remote area of the Balochistan region of Pakistan—with the attackers threatening to execute them.
Pakistan’s Samaa TV reported that the train driver and some passengers were injured as gunmen fired, citing railway officials. A Balochistan government spokesman said an emergency was declared at the nearby Sibi Hospital in response to the attack.
