(Chaz Anon) As a political tactic, false flag terrorism has been used by governments throughout history. This is because a plausible pretext is required to motivate a nation to war. Once set in motion, propaganda is used to further manipulate and shape public opinion, nudging the majority of the populous to accept the war.
In naval warfare, a “false flag” refers to an attack where a vessel will fly a flag other than their true battle flag before engaging their enemy, a trick, designed to deceive the enemy about the true nature and origin of an attack.
