Taliban says foreign troops staying after Sept. 11 will be considered ‘occupiers’

The Taliban is warning any foreign troops remaining after President Biden’s Sept. 11 deadline to pull the US military from Afghanistan will be considered an “occupying force” – a threat that comes as hundreds of Afghan security personnel flee Taliban fighters into neighboring Tajikistan, according to a report on Monday.

Most US and NATO troops have pulled out of the war-torn country — with the clearest indication of the pace of the withdrawal coming last week when the US handed over Bagram Airfield to Afghan security forces. ​
