REESEVILLE, Wis. — More than two dozen train cars derailed outside Reeseville in Dodge County Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
The incident happened around 1:55 p.m. on the railroad tracks west of Reeseville.
In an email Tuesday afternoon, a Canadian Pacific representative said an initial assessment found 29 cars carrying wheat, seed and bentonite clay derailed.
No hazardous material spilled, no one was injured and there was no threat to the community, Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said, stressing the incident could have been much worse.
