A panel of outside experts for the Food and Drug Administration have unanimously recommended an emergency use authorization for a third dose of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for some Americans — people 65 and older or those at risk of serious disease — six months after completing their first dose.
Friday’s vote follows a day-long meeting discussing evidence around potentially waning immunity from the company’s first two shots in the face of the highly contagious Delta variant.
