LOS ANGELES, CA — A hazardous materials team is headed to the LA Live area in Downtown Los Angeles where a 55-gallon drum filled with an unknown chemical emitted fumes that caused an evacuation and one hospitalization.
The hazmat team was called to a parking structure 1168 LA Live Way just before noon Friday, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Margaret Stewart. The drum is located near the building’s HVAC units, prompting firefighters to turn them off.
