A person’s ethnicity may influence the length of their menstrual cycle, which could be due to differing levels of stress, environmental exposures or access to healthcare.
The menstrual cycle is a series of physiological changes that prepare the body for pregnancy. Part of the cycle is a period, when a person bleeds from the vagina. For most people who menstruate, periods occur around every 28 days; however, this commonly ranges from 21 to 40 days.
