‘We want independence now!’ Activists clash with police on Catalonia Day in Barcelona (VIDEO)

Pro-independence protesters threw objects and shouted abuse at police during rallies on Catalonia Day in Spain on Saturday. They burned large photos of the Spanish region’s leader, as well as Spain’s prime minister.

People hurled plastic bottles, toilet paper rolls and other objects at officers outside Catalonia’s police headquarters in Barcelona. They also pushed and threw metal fences towards the police. In one instance, officers were sprayed with a fire extinguisher.
