Advances in technology seem like a wonderful idea. But then you get a lot of people who have no idea how to use it, and freak themselves out. About a decade ago, it was very popular for pregnant folks to gage “baby glamor shots” at pop-up sonogram stations in shopping malls. Problem was, the techs doing these examinations were not necessarily trained in the art of reading these sonograms, and were, n many cases, expressly forbidden from providing medical advice, So you got a ton of people with bizarre renderings of their fetuses and no understanding for how a sonogram image was constructed, thinking their gestating tot had arms growing out of its head or other deformities that were nothing more than badly-rendered sonogram images.
